未朝某年，山东李弥将军因对朝廷成迹彪炳，获封她赠金告老归田，安享天年。其子李玉乃饱学之士，书画琴棋无所不精，其妻阮氏亦十分贤淑。但不久李玉夜里常作恶梦，梦中皆是些战乱中惨死之亡魂不断缠扰，而在夜里李竟将妻和她表兄二人残暴杀死，自此後李玉变得神态失常。
