影片翻拍自阿根廷电影《膝下无子》，讲述了高中时期遇见初恋的男人无意间将家庭史变成秘密而展开的一系列风波浪漫喜剧故事。

　　朱英秀（金明敏 饰）是一名律师，和妻子敏晶（朴珠美 饰）过着幸福的生活，两人共同养育着他们爱情的结晶慧琳（金素贤 饰），朱英秀相信正是因为有了主的庇护，他才能够过上如此美满的人生。然而，一场意外的发生彻底击碎了朱英秀的信念。　　绑匪绑架了年幼的慧琳，两人就此下落不明。起初，朱英秀和妻子都坚信慧琳一定能够平安归来，然而随着时间的推移，这份坚定逐渐粉碎为了尘埃。朱秀英甚至因为此时而对自己坚持一生的信仰产生了怀疑。一晃眼八年过去，一通意外的来电在这个支离破碎的家庭之内再度掀起波澜，慧琳还活着，而朱英秀唯一的信仰，就是找到她。

All goes well initially. Renting an apartment in Metta, a rundown Khmer Rouge-era housing complex, her visit to her maternal relatives finds her welcomed with open arms. But Soriya’s waking hours in the apartment and its surroundings are punctuated by terrifying, bloody visions, almost as though she were a conduit for horrors of the past wanting to seep into the present.　　Inrasothythep Neth and Sokyou Chea’s blood-chilling psychological horror explores a personal and political past through the present, transforming a characterful space into an insidious environment. Surrounded by modern high-rises, this decrepit structure, with its brutalist architecture and peeling surfaces, is a relic from a dark period in history whose painful memories it has absorbed. In tracing Soriya’s ominous journey back to her roots, Tenement hints at a necessary reckoning with Cambodia’s political past without overplaying its historical dimension. It’s an impressive work from a woefully underrepresented national cinema.
